I know that i haven't updated in a while but things have been piling up. It's given me time to think of how the world works and how unfair it is. Bit sudden to drop but it's true, don't you think?
"For some reason our backwards American culture has decided to appropriate the Native American headdress and use it in fashion, this is beyond disrespectful, to give you an example of why this is such a horrible symbol in fashion (especially worn by white European centric women) here is the actual meaning behind the native American headdress. Head hair was considered to be the extension of the soul for the Native American Indians. Hence they would use various forms of personal medicine and ornaments to decorate the hair. This was topped off with a truly breathtaking headdress.
Although the kind of headdresses worn varied from tribe to tribe there were generally four varieties amongst the warriors of the plains. One of the most famous Native American Indian headdresses is the horned one. Then you have the special golden eagle feather headdress. The more toned down headdress was in the form of a hat or a cap. And perhaps the most awkward, at least for non-Natives was the animal skin type headdress.
The headdress was not something one could wear at will. Rather it was something that every warrior had to earn and the only way to do that was to go into battle. Every feather in the headdress was a symbolic reflection of the deeds that the wearer engaged in. This is why you would find that some warriors had only two or three feathers in their headdresses throughout their life time. This gives you the idea of how difficult it was to earn these feathers.
The bonnet, as it was also known was taken as a symbol of high respect. As such the ordinary people were not allowed to sport the bonnet without special permission from the chief of the tribe. There were different ways of earning the privilege of being able to wear a bonnet. One of the ways in which you could get the honor was to be the first to touch a fallen enemy in a battle. This was so because it signified that the particular individual was at the forefront of the fighting." -taken from http://www.kwintessential.co.uk/articles/usa/Native-American-Indians-Headdress/2276
It's things like this that bother me, that just because a certain person/culture/social group/race think that they can take control over others they think they can rule. Nowadays people chose the facts that they want to listen to. They can chose to ignore things that bother them. So, in a sense, it's almost as if the world is separated between two completely different worlds. The one where life is perfect, booming economy and high tech devices making lives easier. Then the other where poverty is everywhere, hunger, war, greed, and slavery are a fact of life.
What have we become?
If we can turn our backs so easily and quickly on those who we can help. We aren't really nothing if we can't help them.
Why is it that there is always a problem with relationships and love? Why must there be rules for someone to follow? Particularly when they're in a relationship or when they want to be in one.
This might sound stupid but I'm honestly curious. I mean we all stick to these stereotypes no matter how hard we try or say we don't. Like saying they're populars, or a word used in America; Jocks or even druggies, emo's and goths. I suppose that i could be in the middle somewhere. It seems to be common knowledge that these social circles cannot cross or mix...maybe they can. I wish i could be all that i can be, you know, courage and all.
Sometimes you just have to take no prisoners, don't look back and smile every chance you get.
I just want a relationship that I can rely on. I want to be kissed in the pouring rain. I want Heath Ledger singing 'can't take my eyes off you'. I want Johnny saying no one can put me in a corner. I want a summer romance that can be so much more. I want a friend and love like Jacob Black's. I want a love like Noah and Allie's. I want someone who'll make me feel like the only person in the world.
Hi me again. Just another day...sitting at a computer...in a lesson...with nothing to do. Yet.
If anyone is reading this then i feel for you i really do. I mean you've had one post about democracy and such and now it's just...nothing very interesting at all.
You might be waiting for something incredibly literate and thought provoking but i don't quite know what will come next from my furiously typing fingers. Could it be something of war? Of hate and how it's tainting our lives, perhaps.
Or maybe, just maybe it could be the thoughts of a distraught teenage girl, wondering, like most, how the male brain works. I know that they say women are difficult and confusing, we are. So are they, we confuse each other with cryptic messages and signals. Why can't we just have the balls to say i like you, do you like me? But when you ask sometimes you don't get the answer you want. Which in some cases ist' okay, in others it's not.
I was okay with it...but then, things happened. Men say things and then do the exact opposite. If any guy is reading this then can i ask you a question?
If you flirt with a girl, then find out she likes you and you turn her down gently and it then ends okay because she's fine with it. But then why would you keep looking at her? Why keep flirting with her if you're not normally flirty?
Hi, so I know it must be a shock (if anyone out there is actually reading this) that I've updated already but I needed to get something written down.
Today in my drama class we were studying A number by Caryl Churchill. A dystopian play based on cloning and how lies can effect people in different ways. If no one has read it and is interested in Theatre of the Absurd, or experimental, socialist and feminist writers (for all you drama nerds out there) do, it's a good read once you get around the lack of punctuation.
And it got me thinking, if we live in this 'perfect' society then something has got to give, right? Because I know for a fact that we don't. I mean, look at all the evidence that's spread across our news every night.
We live in a democracy, where there is always a top dog and no one is viewed as an equal. I know that most people do see others as equals but some don't, especially those who's life has been easier. I'm not stereotyping, please, please don't think I am and if anyone copy's what i write out of context, that's your problem. But really think about this.
We live in a world where we are always expecting the worst. Always writing, reading about dystopias (the opposite to a Utopia so basically a disaster, examples I can think of are films like 2012, The Day After Tomorrow and 28 Days Later) and a world gone wrong. But what are we doing to avoid this? We seem to be fascinated by our own destruction, fascinated by what we can not understand so we keep asking questions to which we don't know the answers. Sending probes into space, making so much noise with all of our technology just to find the answer to our questions.
And that's where the democracy comes in. Surely if something bad was going to happen in the world...it would come from above? Not literally of course, although that's highly probable. Not from natural disasters of such a dramatic scale like in 2012, but from higher up in the 'food chain' shall I say?
From people with a high authority and power to do much more damage like countries with governments armed with nuclear weapons.
So my question and point is this, can we really trust that we are safe? Especially with all these threats of wars ranging over our heads. Or do we just let them fight it out above us while we scrounge around to make a living out of mediocre jobs.
Sorry for the subject but i was in a ranting mood. If you don't like it, don't read.
Hi, so I'm Jade. Don't ask that's all your going to get. Now you might be wondering why I've just suddenly decided to create a blog. In all honesty...so am I. I guess this will be like a dairy. Where I'll dump my thougths and feelings at random points during the course of however long I can keep this up. Feel free to drop in and have a read of course. I'm sure it'll be entertaining at some points. I must warn you however that it will also be somewhat deep and hopefully thought provoking. So here's to a new start, of Internet connection and maybe the start of something great. Thanks for reading!
